Mosaic Jewellery Making

Mosaic jewellery is so simple to make and so effective! Not only can you colour match your jewellery to your favourite outfit, but they also make beautiful, cost-effective gifts that will be treasured because you created them. Adhere your tiny tiles to a pendant base, grout and attach the necklace; that's it!

Project Instructions

Materials

Jewellery Bases - Plaster
Adjustable Black Cord Necklace
E6000 or clear liquid nails
Black Grout
Tweezers
Needle and cotton for threading seed beads
Gloves, containers, rags or sponge for grouting
Materials - Small materials are best, including Ceramic Tiny Tiles, Glass Micro Tiles and Seed Beads

Steps

1. Choose Your Materials

Your choice of materials is wide and varied. Select from Ceramic Tiny Tiles, Millefiori, Beads, Glass Tiles or anything that can be cut down small enough to fit onto these pendant.

2. Adhere The Tiles

You will need a pair of tweezers to position your tiles. Tiny tiles are so small that you rarely need to cut them, but if you do you can use a pair of two wheeled nippers.

We use E6000 adhesive or clear liquid nails to adhere the tiles, it is fast drying and tacky so it holds the tiny tiles in place.

To make the seed bead rows, thread the seed beads onto cotton. Apply glue directly onto the pendant and position the seed bead thread, don't remove the cotton until the adhesive has dried.

3. Grouting

When grouting, always wear gloves, as the grout will dry your hands out. Mix a small amount of powdered grout with water, it is easier to grout the pendant if the grout is drier than normal. Once mixed, place a small amount of grout onto your tiles and rub it into the gaps between them. Once you have covered the entire mosaic, scrape off the excess and let it dry. We use baby wipes to clean the grout off the tiles, they are moist so you don't need to add water. Buff the pendant to finish the clean up.
