Glass sand is a wonderful way to add to add texture and colour to your mosaic. In this 'How to Mosaic' we demonstrate how easy it is to use and mix with other materials to create beautiful & intriciate mosaics.
Glass Sand is made from tiny pieces of coloured tumbled glass, to use you just place the pieces in clear adhesive and layer them up. As demonstrated in the following steps:
Step 1: Apply a good quality clear adhesive, in this example I have used Weldbond adhesive.
Step 2: Add Glass Sand, tweezers are recommended.
Step 3: Add boarder tiles, in this case I have used a 1 cm mirror tile cut into 9 pieces.
Step 4: Add more sand to layer up the area. I have applied adhesive directly to the area and placed the piece of glass on top.
Step 5: Add other types of materials for additional interest. In this design I have added some flower beads.
Step 6: Again add a boarder to the area.
Step 7: Add sead beads to the design. The sead beads give another layer of colour & texture to the overall design.
Step 8: Sead beads are applied by laying them in adhesive & layering them up like the glass sand.
